Lumen Field will pursue a Global Talent Stream labour-market assessment and, if it is approved, the employer-specific work permit. Immigration counsel is paid by the company. Timing depends on processing, and the offer says so.

The work
The group builds models that turn weather and asset data into risk scores for insurers. You will sit with two scientists and a small engineering team, three days a week near King West. Papers are welcome. Shipping a model the underwriters actually use is the job.
Responsibilities
- Frame a modelling problem with the people who carry the risk.
- Train, evaluate, and document models so an auditor can follow them.
- Put a model into the production path with the engineering team.
- Read the week’s failures out loud, without a slide.
Requirements
- A graduate degree in a quantitative field, or equivalent published work.
- Python, and the judgement to stop a model that only works on last year’s data.
- English.
- Patience for a permit process the company does not pretend to control.
